Types of Biewer Yorkie Introduction
The Biewer Yorkies are energetic, playful, and friendly. Biewer Yorkie is pronounced as “beaver” and also named as Biewer Terrier, Biewer Yorkshire, and Biewer a’la pom on. This lovable small puppy is energetic, they are one of the best fits for the owner living in small houses or apartments. Biewer Yorkie is one of the best companions of children to senior citizens and singles. According to the different size, gernerations, color and so on, there are types of Biewer Yorkies.
What is a f1 Biewer Yorkie?
Gertrud and Werner Biewer named these Yorkies with white markings “Biewer Yorkshire Terrier à la Pom Pon.” It was from these breedings the Biewer Yorkie was developed.
In the F1 generation, if you breed a Biewer and a Yorkshire, you get only Yorkshire color puppies (black and tan).
A hybrid breeder who mixes the Biewer and the Yorkie states, “There can be Biewer and Yorkshire color puppies in a single litter, but only in the F2 generation. In the F1 generation, if you breed a Biewer and a Yorkshire, you get only Yorkshire color puppies (black and tan).
As with any hybrid dog, the percentage of each breed in each Yorkie-Poo determines the individual dog’s traits.
Here are a few guidelines about some of the Yorkie-Poo hybrids available:
(1). An “F1” Yorkie-Poo puppy is a first-generation 50/50 Yorkie and Poodle mix.
(2). An “F1-B” Yorkie-Poo puppy is a 75/25 Yorkie and Poodle mix. These hybrid puppies come in two types.
1). 25% Poodle and 75% Yorkie, sometimes called Yo-Yopoo’s, are offspring from a Yorkie-Poo (50/50) bred with a Yorkie. Their traits are much closer to a Yorkie, such as long straight hair, etc.
2). 25% Yorkie and 75% Poodle are offspring from a Yorkie-Poo (50/50) bred with a Poodle. These Yorkie-Poos have more Poodle traits, such as curly hair, etc.
What is a Biro Biewer?
The Biro Biewer breed is a combination of dark chocolate color on a white background and the addition of gold color on the head. This makes the Biro a highly attractive and exclusive phenomenon.
The Biro Biewer comes from Biewers that carry the brown gene. The first Biro was a female called “Artois of Highclass Relight My Chocolate Fire”, born December 1st, 2004 to the “art of Highclass” Kennel, German breeders, Roberto Krah and J. lutz. It was this female dog that became the first registered Biro in the world.
The mother of the puppies, Alisha vom Wasserschlobehen, gave birth to four puppies. Three of the puppies were Biewers (black/blue on a white background, with tri-colored head). The fourth puppy was a female Biro (chocolate on a white background with a Tricolored head and brown nose).
The Father of this Biro was “Uz Von der Elsteraue” a winner of a great number of awards. Six weeks later another, January 14th, 2005, another female Biro was born to another kennel “From the Lightning Showboy” owned by Birgit Rosner and N. Polak. The pup was named “Little Princess from the Lightning Showboy”. Her Mother was Airline Von Alkotmany, daughter of the already mentioned Alisha vom Wasserschlobehen and the father was the same Uz von der Elsteraue.
What is Teacup biewer terrier?
The Origins of Teacup Yorkie
The first thing you need to know about Teacup Yorkies is that they are actually Yorkshire Terriers but smaller. The American Kennel Club doesn’t recognize it as a breed of its own.
While the Yorkshire Terriers have been around since the nineteenth century, Teacup Yorkies made an appearance somewhere around the 1990s. That was the decade that saw many celebrities and supermodels going for the miniature pet trend.
However, miniature Yorkies weren’t exactly rare before that. Some Yorkies are naturally small while others are bred that way. A breeding practice is known as ‘Miniaturization’ is why you see the Teacup Yorkies of today.
Miniaturization of Yorkshire Terrier
Before we move on, it is important to note that the Yorkies aren’t the only ones to have a ‘teacup’ variation. Miniaturization is quite common in other toy breeds such as Pomeranians, Chihuahua, and the Maltese. Their compact size makes them hugely popular because their size makes them seem to be in perpetual puppyhood.
However, it is worth noting none of the teacup breeds is officially recognized by AKC despite their popularity.
Size: A Pup in a Cup
Is a Teacup Yorkie small enough to fit a teacup?
Yes, it is actually small enough to fit your palm. Google and you will find heart-melting photos of people holding these babies in hand or in a Starbucks cup.
Let’s not forget that the parent breed, Yorkshire Terrier, is a toy breed itself. This means a regular Yorkie will not grow beyond 8 to 9 inches and should ideally weigh under 6 to 7 pounds.
Now, since Teacup Yorkie isn’t a recognized breed, there is no official size specification. Any Yorkie that is supposed to stay smaller than a regular Yorkie is a Teacup Yorkie.
If we really get down to the numbers, your terrier is a teacup if it doesn’t grow beyond 6 inches and weighs under 4 pounds. They are probably never going to grow bigger than a can of soda.
That said, it is worth noting that many breeders will sell a Yorkshire terrier pup as a Teacup Terrier. You may realize it only after it grows beyond the teacup size. That is why it is highly important to find a good breeder.
What is Chocolate Biewer Yorkie
The Chocolate Yorkie (also known as Red Yorkie or Brown Yorkie) is a Yorkshire Terrier which is carrying a double recessive gene for a brown or red coat. The result from that is a Yorkie which is different from the traditional ones when you compare their coat color.
The best of the gene can lead to liver or brown pigmentation of the nose, eye rims, and the paw pads.
As puppies, the traditional Yorkshire terriers usually appear with a black coat, but the ones that carry the double recessive gene for the brown coat have a lighter color even at birth. So the chocolate Yorkshire terriers are fully brown from their first second.
The brown color may vary from brown to tan and depending on the exact shades there are Yorkshire terriers known as red-legged Yorkies, Liver and Tan Yorkies, or entirely Tan Yorkies.
Many breeders and people think that some Yorkshire terriers carry a recessive gene for a brown coat as a result of a crossbreeding with some other breeds like the Dachshund for example. If you have an interest in the Chocolate colored Yorkshire terriers you can read more about them and make an educated decision if they are the right dogs for you.
What is Miniature Biewer Yorkies
The Miniature Biewer Yorkie is simply a Yorkshire Terrier who has been bred to be significantly smaller than normal.
Miniature Biewer Yorkie usually weighs between 2 and 4 pounds but can weigh up to 7 pounds.
Unfortunately, these extra tiny pups can have some size-related health issues, like fragile bones, bladder problems, and more.
Small dogs and toy breeds have been popular with dog lovers for a long time. Over the past decade, even smaller mini, micro, or ‘teacup’ versions of these breeds have become increasingly popular.
Miniature Biewer Yorkies are not a new or separate breed of dog. If the Miniature Yorkie puppies you have your eye on are pedigree, they are registered as Yorkshire Terriers the same as any regular-size Yorkshire Terrier.
Miniature Biewer Yorkies are not restricted to the Yorkshire Terrier breed, other toy breeds have been miniaturized too. This makes a lot of people unhappy and some people quite angry.
If you are thinking of buying a Miniature Biewer Yorkies puppy, you should probably know why Miniature Biewer Yorkie and other teacup dogs are controversial. Not just because you may find yourself the target of criticism for your choice of puppy. But because it is important to be aware of the challenges and downsides of miniaturizing dogs before you decide to own one.
